About the project

For several years, we experimented with making our own merch. Every attempt had the same problem: the ideas were exciting, the concepts felt fresh, but the execution fell flat. Instead of stylish pieces we’d actually enjoy wearing, the result looked more like supermarket uniforms than custom promotional products.

In 2023, we finally decided to change that once and for all. The goal wasn’t just another batch of shirts, but a fully thought-out collection we’d be proud to wear at conferences, on stage, during Zoom conference apparel sessions, or even in everyday life.

Task for the Solar Digital team:

• Find the balance between bold brand design ideas and realistic production
• Create not just another batch of t-shirts, but a fully thought-out merch collection
• Design clothing the team would proudly wear at conferences, on stage, and during video calls
• Find a production partner who values details — fabrics, printing methods, quality
• Solve the practical problem of the logo getting cropped during video calls (Zoom, Google Meet, Instagram Stories)

What we did:

• Combined creative design solutions with practical custom-production capabilities
• Chose embroidery, custom tailoring, and subtle accents instead of standard quick printing
• Moved the logo placement higher, closer to the neckline, so it stays visible during video calls
• Developed the “Designed by Solar Digital” capsule collection: 5–6 t-shirts in monochrome variations with several logo placement options
• Added sweatshirts, caps, bags, phone cases, and branded conference apparel
• Designed logos that transfer seamlessly from physical products to social media

Result:

• A stylish, cost-effective collection that works across key settings — conferences, public speaking, online meetings, digital platforms
• A complete brand design ecosystem for both startups and established companies
• The collection opened new business opportunities — IT companies began reaching out for their own corporate merch, inspired by this portfolio
