Time and Materials Approach

The Time & Materials (T& M) model works well when a project’s scope isn’t fully defined or might shift along the way. You pay for the real time the team spends and any tools or resources used during the process.

It’s a smart choice for projects that are still taking shape or likely to change. You can shift priorities, add new features, and keep things flexible — all while staying in control of both the process and the budget.

Fixed-price model 

You agree on the full cost before the project starts.

It works best when everything is planned out in advance.

Time & materials model

You pay for the hours worked and materials used — nothing more.

Formula:

Hours worked × Hourly rate + Any agreed costs for materials (if needed).

• Clear cost reports. You get a detailed breakdown of what was done, how long it took, and how much it cost — simple and transparent.
• Budget health tracking. You’ll always have a clear view of your project’s financial status, so you can make smart decisions at the right time.

Each week, you’ll receive a clear summary that helps you stay informed and in control:

• Work completed & cost

A breakdown of what was done and how much time (and cost) it took.

• Plans for next week

What the team will focus on in the upcoming sprint.

• Risks & blockers

Early warnings about anything that might slow things down.

• Customer engagement

A recap of key conversations, feedback, or decisions made.

• Updated plans (if needed)

Any changes to the roadmap or scope are clearly noted.
